So my great-grandparents received the obituary notice of the poor father who had lost his son in WW1 (see prior post, my great-grandfather had found the son’s wallet and sent it to the parents).

So Henri Bernola was the mayor of his small town, and he died shortly after having written his letter to my great-grandfather.
The quotes in the obituary are very moving, especially the one that reminds how heart-broken he had been by the loss of his only child :
“Victime de la guerre, il l’a été sans combattre, frappé au coeur par la mort du fils qu’il avait donné à la Patrie”
